A summer for exploration
It’s only just the start
The weather has finally started to settle as we move into the peak of summer with lush days filling Central Otago. We have had the pleasure of embarking on incredible adventures over the Christmas and New Years’ period with our guests from the Alpine Lodge, Wanaka, and Queenstown. It has been a busy start in 2021 as guests take full advantage of our Minaret Station Experiences. The month began with a trip to Stewart Island, traversing the glaciers below Aoraki as part of our Mt Cook Experience, fishing secluded riversides, heli biking, and hiking remote alpine tracks.
Heli hiking through New Zealand’s wilderness
One of our most popular trips guests have been taking advantage of has been our heli hiking experience. Tailormade to guests’ ability and desired activity level, our heli hiking adventure provides an incredible opportunity to explore new terrain and be active in the back country. From the rugged West Coast beaches, remote alpine ridgelines, or ancient beech forests, this stimulating day grants the perfect tasting selection of a diverse range of New Zealand landscapes.
Enjoy every step of the journey as your guide shares with you the heritage, wildlife, and foliage unique to each ecosystem you visit. Relish in your natural setting with friends or family as you enjoy a scenic gourmet lunch as part of each heli hiking trip we offer.
Helicopter access hiking offers the unique ability to cover a range of locations over the course of the day. Each Minaret Station Experience is available to Minaret Station Alpine Lodge guests as well as non-lodge guests departing from Queenstown and Wanaka. Enquire with our reservations team to dream up your next hiking adventure.
